Invisible Man

A friendly light shines from the past

This warm and welcome shadow cast

Follow it and I come to find

These precious souls you left behind.

Heading set to three one five

Toward the danger to stay alive

A crack and clash and shattered mast

Left to float but free at last.

Well I’m out of depth and overwhelmed

Stand my post, I’ve got the helm

Made a promise I won’t forget

Never heard your voice before,

But need to talk to you

Haven’t seen your face before,

But now I miss it too

Would have liked to shake the hand

The hand of this invisible man

Home is here now, I won’t look back

Just wish I could have met you, Jack

Stories told by glowing faces

Of warmer times in colder places

‘Til I’m gone I owe this debt

To my best friend I’ve never met

The wake you left moves us along

We’ll sing a silly mermaid song

A silent service I’ll hold for you

Heavy heart now open wide

“Sea Y’all” on the other side

I’d swear you’re here to see us through

Would have liked to shake the hand

The hand of this invisible man

Home is here now, I won’t look back

Just wish I could have met you, Jack

Lighting my way your star shines through the dark

See your reflection in their eyes and on their hearts

I surfaced from the darkness up into the blue

And now I say goodbye and raise a glass to you

Would have liked to shake the hand

The hand of this invisible man

Drop the anchor, gonna hang my hat

Just wish I could have met you…
